Charismes et institution font-ils bon ménage ? Cette contribution cherche réponse en traversant quelques épîtres pauliniennes. D’abord l’épître aux Galates, pour relire les fondements de l’argumentation paulinienne en matière de service. Puis la première aux Corinthiens, pour penser la réalité nouvelle qui règne sur l’organisation de la communauté. Enfin l’épître aux Éphésiens, pour réfléchir avec les successeurs de Paul à la dimension cosmologique de l’œuvre commune des serviteurs. Cette traversée scripturaire met au jour une théologie de la reconnaissance : la reconnaissance des charismes que Dieu a gracieusement prodigués à chacune et chacun en vue de prendre efficacement ses responsabilités de croyant dans le monde.

Paulinian responses to the institutionalisation of charismas

Do charismas and institution go hand in hand ? This contribution will seek an answer through examining several of the Paulinian epistles. First, the Galatians, to reread the foundations of the Paulinian argument about service. Then, the First Letter to the Corinthians, to think through the new reality that prevails in organizing the community. Finally, the Ephesians, to think alongside Paul’s successors about the cosmological dimension of the common work of servants. This scriptural examination reveals a theology of recognition: recognition of charismas that God graciously granted to each and everyone to take on their responsibilities as believers in the world.
