La canonisation des Écritures et la reconnaissance de leur inspiration

Les concepts d’inspiration et de canonisation/canonicité entretiennent entre eux une circularité qui n’est que la conséquence de la circularité fondamentale existant entre Eglise et Ecriture. L’Eglise chrétienne précède le N.T.. Mais d’un autre côté, l’Ecriture précède l’Eglise, parce que le N.T. a été écrit à la lumière de l’Ancien, et que ce N.T. est l’attestation de l’événement fondateur dont il reçoit son autorité. Le vis-à-vis entre Ecriture et Eglie est indépassable. L’inspiration précède et fonde le canon qui devient le critère prioritaire de l’inspiration. Le texte est lu comme inspiré parce qu’il appartient au canon. Il y a quelque chose d’indépassable dans cette circularité, faite d’une solidarité originaire et réciproque entre le deux données. Elle a un aspect dialectique. Après une brève histoire de cette dialectique, B. Sesboüé fait plusieurs propositions théologiques sur l’inspiration et le canon.

­ The canonization of the Scriptures and the recognition of their inspiration.  A historical-theological approach.

The concepts of inspiration and canonization/canonicity have between them a circuitry that is but the consequence of the fundamental circuitry that exists between the Church and the Scriptures.  The Christian Church precedes the N.T.  On the other hand, Scripture precedes the Church because the N. T. was written in the light of the Old, and because this N. T. attests to the founding event from which it receives its authority.  The face to face between Scripture and Church cannot be resolved. Inspiration precedes and establishes the canon, which becomes the first criterion of inspiration.  There is something that cannot be overcome in this circuitry, made up of an original and reciprocal solidarity between the two givens.  It has a dialectical aspect.  After a brief history of this dialectic, B. Sesboüé presents a number of theological propositions on inspiration and the canon.
