À la recherche d’un « langage liturgique approprié ». Perspectives pour un problème non résolu

L’auteur pose la question d’un langage liturgique apte à se situer d’une part dans la tradition de l’Église et qui corresponde, d’autre part, à la situation spécifique de la liturgie tout en respectant finalement les exigences de la liturgie émanant de la Constitution sur la sainte liturgie du concile Vatican II ; celle-ci avait pour but, entre autres, la participation pleine, active et fructueuse de tous les fidèles ainsi qu’une vie chrétienne et spirituelle basée sur la liturgie. L’article montre les graves difficultés qui se posent depuis la publication de l’instruction Liturgiam authenticam pour les livres liturgiques en langues vernaculaires et développe des perspectives pour l’avenir de l’euchologie de la liturgie romaine.

In search of an “appropriate liturgical language”. Perspectives for an unresolved problem

The author highlights the question of a liturgical language able to find its place in Church tradition and which would correspond, as well, to the specific context of liturgy, all the while respecting the demands of liturgy that arise from the Constitution on the Holy Liturgy of Vatican II. Among other goals, this aimed at full, active and fruitful participation of all the faithful, as well as a christian and spiritual life based on liturgy. This article outlines the serious difficulties that have arisen since the publication of the instruction Liturgiam authenticam for liturgical books and vernacular languages and attempts to develop perspectives for the future of the euchology of the Roman liturgy.
