Henri Bouillard et l’avénement des sciences humaines

La période la plus féconde de la pensée de Bouillard correspond, dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, au moment où la philosophie et la théologie académique sont mises en concurrence avec l’entrée des sciences humaines dans le champ universitaire. Alors que Bouillard élabore le concept de théologie fondamentale en lieu et place de l’ancienne apologétique, il reste curieusement silencieux sur l’apport possible à la quête du sens de ces nouvelles disciplines que sont la sociologie, l’histoire, la psychologie et la linguistique.

Henri Bouillard and the arrival of human sciences

The most fertile period of Bouillard’s work corresponds to the period during the second half of the twentieth century when academic philosophy and theology had to compete with the human sciences, which had just made their entry into the field of university studies. Whereas Bouillard worked out the concept of fundamental theology to replace the older apologetics, he remains astonishingly silent about the possible contribution to the quest of meaning on the part of these new disciplines (sociology, history, psychology and linguistics).
