La naissance d’une théologie pratique et pastorale. Dans le sillon du concile Vatican II et l’interrogation actuelle sur les « sujets » de la théologie

Vatican II a introduit une nouvelle manière d’élaborer un discours chrétien et d’exprimer la foi chrétienne, mais ce renouveau de la théologie a besoin d’être poursuivi et approfondi si celle-ci ne veut pas être marginalisée, car la situation présente du monde et de l’Église lui lance de nouveaux défis. L’article questionne le rôle du Concile dans cette révolution puis réfléchit aux nouveaux approfondissements exigés dans la situation actuelle. L’enjeu pour la théologie est de demeurer enracinée dans son terreau et de reprendre la question du salut dans le Christ à partir du cri des pauvres et de la terre. S’appuyant certes sur des spécialistes voués au travail théologique, elle ne pourra pas s’isoler du travail d’interprétation menée par les communautés.

Birth of a practical and pastoral theology. In the wake of Vatican II and present-day questioning of the “subjects” of theology

Vatican II introduced a new way of setting out Christian discourse and expressing Christian faith, but this renewal of theology needs to be pursued in greater depth if it is not to be marginalised, because the present-day situation of the world and the Church are creating new challenges to it. The article questions the rôle of the Council in this revolution and thinks over new ways to take a more in-depth approach that are required in the current situation. The stakes involved for theology are to remain rooted in its grounding and take up again the question of salvation in Christ in view of the cry of the poor and of the Earth. While remaining based on the work of specialists, theology will not be able to isolate itself from the interpretative work undertaken by communities.
